A Call to Conscience (C2C) is an interactive theater collective founded in 2012 by a group of
women participants from the Regional Arts Commission’s CAT Program. C2C’s mission is to
stir the conscience of our community and facilitate social change. The company presents original works that engages diverse audiences in thought provoking conversations and an exchange of ideas regarding racism, police brutality, poverty, health disparity and gender inequality.
A Call to Conscience was recently awarded a 2020 Arts & Healing Initiative grant to create and perform a series of dramatic narratives encompassing personal struggle, social conflict, hopeful resolution, and healing. C2C is inviting you the citizen to participate in the creation of this process by submitting monologues, stories, or spoken word pieces for this new organically creative experimental work “Celebration of Survival”. “Celebration of Survival” will be a series of vignettes written by you the citizens from St. Louis and the broader Missouri state area.
The writings should focus on your experience during the pandemic around issues of health disparities and food insecurity during COVID, housing discrimination, domestic violence, LGBTQIA issues, job loss and excessive police force. All work must be written in the first person; must be typed using a 12 font size and be no more than 1-3 pages in length.
